The Virtual Worlds video archive is dedicated to the academic investigation and historical preservation of documentation of virtual worlds.

This collection is a collaborative effort of the How They Got Game Project of the Stanford Humanities lab, as part of the Preserving Virtual Words project funded by the National Digital Information Infrastructure Preservation Program (NDIIPP) funded by the U.S. Library of Congress. Groups at the University of Illinois, University of Maryland, and Rochester Institute of Technology are also partners in this important project. Virtual Worlds
The Internet Archive is working with multiple external parties, including the IGDA's Preservation SIG and Stanford University's How They Got Game Project to preserve all kinds of rare and difficult to source video files relating to videogames.

Updates to the collection are now listed below:

April 2009: Daniel Floyd has contributed his "Videogames And..." series of videos to the Videogame Footage collection.
March 2009: We've now added the NextGenWalkThroughs collection, which will include walkthroughs for many major contemporary video games - thanks to NextGenWalkThroughs.com for the uploads.
February 2009: Uploads of Sega videos to the Videogame Footage collection by Satakore.com's Madroms.
November 2008: The Let's Play collection has been created, with contributions from the Let's Play Archive.
October 2008: Finished adding all existing episodes of the mockumentary videogame-based show Pure Pwnage to the Videogame Footage collection.
March 2008: Now added, the Archiving Virtual Worlds collection, "...dedicated to the academic investigation and historical preservation of documentation of virtual worlds."
October 2007: Have added the C64 Game Video Archive, with a mass of gameplay videos from Commodore 64 titles - thanks to Reinhard Klinksiek.
September 2007: Now adding selected promotional videos and interviews from the archive of Shacknews and its Fileshack video collection - thanks to Steve Gibson and Chris Remo.
September 2007: Added all existing episodes of Scottish satirical video game show Consolevania to the Videogame Footage collection.
September 2007: Added multiple lectures from the Independent Games Summit to the Videogame Footage collection - thanks to CMP Technology.
Videogame Videos Internet Archive
Miscellaneous videogame-related shows, lectures, films, in-game and live footage of various useful and historical kinds.
This collection includes:

Game-related Video News Releases (VNRs) and Electronic Press Kits (EPKs) that were originally submitted to the Computer Chronicles television series and are generally offered to the broadcast media for unlimited use with no restrictions.
The Consolevania series of online videogame shows.
The videogame-based show Pure Pwnage
Press event and other compiled (non-preview) footage from Kikizo.com's archives.
The Independent Games Summit series of lectures from Game Developers Conference 2007, courtesy the CMP Game Group.
The Retro Core series of commented-on Japanese videogame shows.
United Games Media E3 documentary and preview videos
Valve's Meet The... Team Fortress Machinima films.
Material obtained from Fileshack with permission - generally documentaries and videogame shorts or promotional features.
Sega material from Satakore.com.
You can also find various Cutscenes and intros from videogames, either recorded from in-game or the original movie files themselves (more are also tagged with In game video or In game footage if not specifically a cutscene or intro).

Finally, there are some Making Of videos included from game resources or third parties.

Let's Play is a collection of videogame playthroughs with commentary (either text or audio).

Let's Play videos show the videogame being played while the player talks about what he is doing in real time commentary (sometimes just with text). Generally the playthroughs are spread over several segments of play (varying in time). Rarely some action is done "off screen" or speeded up to not get too repetitive, but in most cases the playthrough is a complete run of the game including all "Game Overs" and deaths. The videos are usually a humorous way to learn about a videogame without having to play it. For a more informal description and list of other Let's Play resources, see TV Tropes.

This collection is currently contributed from the Let's Play Archive. This mainly focuses on the Something Awful Let's Play! forum.
