I’ve been a pilot for a major U.S. Carrier since 1989. Before that I flew A-10s for the Air Force. I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters in the UK, and then at McClellan AFB in California. I left the Air Force and then we won the cold war. I think it was just a coincidence

Born in Reading in the early sixties, he made it to university in London where he breezed his way through to a degree in philosophy. After a brief career in a pop band he dallied with the odd job here and there making ends meet before a longish stint running the entertainments at a students' union.

The Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast by some guys who were at one point set on doing philosophy for a living but then thought better of it. Each episode, we pick a short text and chat about it with some balance between insight and flippancy. You don't have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we're talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion. For links to the texts we discuss and other info, check out www.partiallyexaminedlife.com.

Well...we'd been waiting on this for quite some time...but our newly appointed podcast producer Samuel came through with a winner. Today's podcast features "Mega-Panty Dropper" musician...Josh Radin since he was in town to promote his appearance at "The Social." We kinda had to wait until the 11th hour to see if this was going down...but true to his word...Samuel made it happen and we can't thank him enough!!! I know that this isn't everyone's cup of tea...I mean face it...Tom and I are punk rock kids from way back...but we know a good singer when we hear one and Josh and his gang...have got the goods! Mellow...introspective...sensitive...and wonderfully calm...are all words that I would use to describe this strangely unique brand of music..."minimalitically melodic" for lack of a better term. Josh was as nice as ever and his partner in crime...JJessica Staveley-Taylor is equally as nice...and much better looking...just ask Josh? Check out her song...the third of the segment entitled "Mexico." All love to both of them for sharing their talents with our stupid podcast.
It's not everyone's favorite type of music...but coming from a person that like just about all music...it's truly amazing to me that people are set on this earth to make noises such as this...seriously. Whether's punk rock, metal, R&B or Josh Radin and Jessica Staveley-Taylor...music is what makes this sphere turn...
We finish the day with voicemails...and a small recap from Samuel...

A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan Podcast
For 30 years, New York’s legendary Comedy Cellar has served as the launching pad for the greatest stand up comedians in the world. Colin Quinn, Dave Chappelle, Ray Romano, Dave Attell, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Dane Cook, Robert Kelly and Greg Giraldo are just a few of the comedians who began as Cellar regulars.
But classic stage performances have never been the only show going on at the Cellar. The biggest comedians in the world come to sit at “the table” upstairs to argue and sharpen their comedy knives on each other. This kibitzing (an inspiration for Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd), has always been a private affair – until now.
Join us for a weekly peek into the happenings at the Comedy Cellar’s comedian table. Subscribe now and don’t miss a second of it.
We would love to hear your comments. Email them to podcast@comedycellar.com

From the desk of Jonathan Katz: "For the past year or so I've been creating a weekly radio show called 'HEY WE'RE BACK.' The show has featured a number of famous and not-so-famous guests, ranging from music legends like Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin...to Lewis, the exterminator from Orkin. Using the magic of the internet you can now listen to 'HEY WE'RE BACK' right here!" --- www.jonathankatz.com ---
