This year's top winner of Members Project from American Express is Alzheimer's Disease: Early Detection Matters submitted by Virginia cardmember Jay Smith in honor of his wife Patti who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 51. Members Project is an online initiative that invites Cardmembers to come together to submit, discuss and vote for projects to make a positive impact on the world. Since July, people from across the country and the Members Project Advisory Panel helped determine the top 25 projects which American Express cardholders then narrowed down to 5 finalists. The fulfilling organization Alzheimer's Association will receive $1.5 million in funding from American Express to carry out this project.
