Welcome to Asia Pacific Matters: CAPI Interns Abroad and Beyond, brought to you by the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives (CAPI) at the University of Victoria, in Victoria British Columbia, Canada.
Each year CAPI recruits students and graduates to participate in our International Internship Program. Our partner organizations, located in the Asia-Pacific, are all leaders and innovators in their fields, which range from environmental sustainability, resource management and conservation to human rights, migrants rights and HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness. CAPI Interns provide support to these organizations in their important work, while gaining valuable international work experience, research opportunities, network building, and language training.
Beginning in July 2009, participants of CAPI’s International Internship Program embarked on their adventures equipped with a digital audio recorder, and thus, the CAPI Intern podcast series was born. We hope that you enjoy listening to the stories about the inspiring work being done in communities across the Asia-Pacific region by current CAPI interns, intern alumni, and our amazing partner organizations in the region.
