Macbook Podcast
Computer gaming has always held a special place in my heart, especially since the advent of the MMO. Computers have always given me the best of both worlds; the ability to be productive and have fun. I was a Microsoft fanboy for many years, but spending time tweaking my PC had become tiresome over the years, especially with less free time available to me. I even once lost a PC due to overclocking, and almost set my house on fire!
Over the last two years, Apple had lured me in. Their design was clean, their OS was less congested, and their hardware had significantly improved. I took the plunge and made a shopping reservation one on one with an Apple store employee, and had my questions answered.
There's not much I can't do on my 27" iMac, and I thoroughly enjoy using it every day. I since then bought a Macbook pro, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones.
They were right. For the most part, it all just works.
So where is it lacking? Games...
And you know what? That gap is closing as well. It seems like more and more, as Macs gain more market share, game companies are creating Mac versions of their games.
And as they do, you'll here about it here. The MGM podcast will be a monthly event discussing great new games for the Mac. I'm not talking about Crossword Junkie 2.0 with Snow Leopard support. We're talking FPS's, RTS's, and MMOs. We'll even throw in some Mac hardware, and even some iPad/iPhone titles that really stand out.

Ever wondered what a candy apple-headed-techie-elitist and a homeless guy who found a Macbook in the trash have to say about all things Nerd? Too bad, because well, you're gonna hear it anyway. With your ears. Join pod-casting journeymen SLIM and dUbiLL right now!

Following the close of the MMU in 2020 competition last month, our judges' decisions are now in. Representatives from Apple, the BBC, TMP Worldwide, Manchester Digital Development Agency, Cisco Systems and MMU have selected the winning entries as follows:
In 1st place, winning a cash prize of £5,000, Max Livesey's lively animated podcast focusses on MMU as a zero-carbon environmentally friendly campus, with high technology facilities and tutorials taught from overseas.
In 2nd place, winning a cash prize of £1,500, Kieran Maguire's podcast imagines an uber-futuristic learning environment, accessible 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world.
In 3rd place, winning an Apple Macbook, Beth Cust's podcast travels swiftly around MMU, canvassing students' ideas from cross course lessons to televised lectures; from voice recording pens to robot tutors!
In 4th place, winning an Apple iPod Nano, Richard Chen's podcast introduces us to a virtual distance learning university, supported by state of the art technologies.
In 5th place, also winning an Apple iPod Nano, Gavin Sodo presents a desolate, frightening world. Students trudge towards the centre of knowledge - MMU - and plug into a brighter world.
And finally, in 6th place, winning a Samsung Digital Camera, Bogdan Werth imagines a virtual university, with world-spanning vClasses, digital chalkboards and vBooks, and radio frequency ID replacing registers.

Famous podcast producer JV has a MacBook Pro that has faithfully served him for years. And now at the crossroads of his life he's decided to do another podcast. There's only one problem: Garageband only gives him about 5 minutes of recording time before it stalls and crashes. Stories he'd love to tell in 20 minutes he's now had to condense into 5. It's exactly what the title reads. 5 minutes. That's all he has. That's all he gets.
