Dr. C. Alan Floyd has been pastor of First Baptist Church of Middleburg since November of 1999. Pastor Alan is a gifted communicator of the Gospel. His messages are consistently relevant to todayÃ¢â¬â¢s needs and true to the Word of God. His hearts desire is to see peopleÃ¢â¬â¢s lives changed as they encounter God in worship.

Pastor Alan is a graduate of the University of Mobile and received the Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary and Doctor of Ministry degree from New Orleans Seminary. Daniel L. Akin has been president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary since January 2004. Known by many to embody the combination of a strong leader, brilliant scholar, zealous evangelist and genuine man of God, Dr. Akin has served as a pastor and professor and has authored numerous books, commentaries and journal articles.

After earning his bachelor's degree from Criswell College, Dr. Akin earned an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Akin and his wife Charlotte have four sons, three daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter.

I grew up in Alabama (can you read my accent?) in a home with wonderful parents who took me to church. I met Jesus Christ as an 11 year old in 1970. At our church a lot of hippie freaks (remember them?) became Jesus freaks after being changed by the power of the gospel. I knew I wanted to have the passion for God they did. I knew something was missing in my life. So, I turned from my sin, and asked Jesus to take over my life. I have never gotten over it!

I met my beautiful wife Michelle at Samford University where I began to study for the ministry. I served a church there as minister of music. I left for health reasons-they got sick and tired of my singing! I also spent a summer as a youth evangelist.

After graduation and marriage we headed to Ft. Worth to seminary. I earned my MDiv and PhD in evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I was a pastor for part of that time.

Since then we have served the Lord as Home Missionaries in Indiana where I served as state evangelism director for the Southern Baptist work there. Then we moved to Houston where I spent three wonderful years teaching at Houston Baptist Theological Seminary.In 1995, Michelle, Josh, Hannah and I moved to Wake Forest, NC, where I have taught until now. Southeastern Seminary is the greatest place on earth! It is the fastest growing seminary in the world, but that is not the big story. The hand of God rests on the place, in chapel, in class, in faculty meeting-no kidding!
What an honor it is to live the great adventure of the Christian life.
