NBA Finals Press Conferences
The most dangerous and exciting car race in the universe is held only once every five years. And that's tonight. The competitors are lined up at the starting block. In his vehicle, JP, the most daredevil driver on the circuit, is ready for the green light. Female driver Sonoshee, with whom he is secretly in love, is also on the starting line. She will stop at nothing to get on to that podium. In this race, not only is anything possible, but also anything is allowed. In fact, their adversaries have modified their vehicles to equip them with highly destructive weapons; with such participants, it is hardly surprising that Redline is forbidden by the authorities, who will try anything to halt the proceedings. These speed addicts have to put themselves in mortal danger to achieve their aim: eternal glory for those who finally mount the podium.
Redline
Nancy Nestor (Wendie Malik) sees herself as the perfect wife and mother, and now that her teenage genius son Hal (Justin Long) has been named high school valedictorian, her own moment of public glory is close at hand. Unfortunately, its been over three months since Hal locked himself in an upstairs bathroom to work out the mathematical equations in his head while also watching the cheerleader next door (Danica McKellar) bounce on a trampoline. To Nancys dismay, no amount of threatening or coaxing seems to have any effect on Hal. Noted psychologist Dr. Curly Weeks (Ed Begley Jr.) comes to her aid to develop a program that just might get her obsessive-compulsive son out of the bathroom and onto the graduation podium.
Raising Genius
In this podiobook: In the United States, we pray at the altar of competition. From the stock market to the political podium to the soccer field, being the best in comparison to others is thought of as "good." And many times it is! And why not? There is praise aplenty for the "winner." But what happens when the "oohs" and "aahs" of life are elusive to us? Polly and the Measuring Stick is more than a fluffy little fable about a petunia who is passed by. This allegory holds a substantial truth about comparing ourselves in relationship to others and offers a strategy that all of us, the young and the not so young, will find useful for daily survival in a highly competitive world.
